Why Mock Trial?

It's your right....

"Indeed, the purpose for which the Department of Education was created was "to provide a public education system of sufficient quality to extend to all children...the opportunity to reach their full potential and social life of the commonwealth and as contributors to its economy."

-M.G.L. cA1(emphasis added)

It's your best defense...

"The "three R's" are valuable skills, ones that will allow children to contribute to the economy.  But reasonig is what prepares high school graduates to be citizens.  To the extent that public schools exist in part to produce better jurors and voters, "reasoning" must be the fourth R."

-Joshua McQuire, November 2006,  Lawyers Journal

Discovering Justice .... Mock Trial

Founded in 1998 and incorporated as an independent nonprofit in 2001, Discovering Justice is a Boston-based civic and justice education nonprofit organization. Its mission is to prepare young people to value the justice system, realize the power of their own voices, and embrace civic responsibility by connecting classrooms and courtrooms . Please visit for addition information info@discoveringjustice.org.

Discovering Justice’s programs are changing students’ lives and school climates by teaching children to use their voices to advocate for themselves and others through learning about democratic values, history, justice, and civic responsibility. Programs are available in school, afterschool, and in courthouses. Several programs have both a school-based and courthouse-based component. Mock Trial is one of these programs. Please visit for addition  information info@discoveringjustice.org.
